Here we go a-bloggering...

Well, after years of sitting around stateside, I am once again dusting off my passport and heading to Latin America. Providence (aka the Professional Development fund at school) is sending me to Costa Rica, where I will attend a conference: GYLI's Living in a Flat World. I hope to explore the means by which to push institutional change around sustainability (in my role as Sustainability Coordinator) and consider how to incorporate global education and sustainability in classroom science education (in my role as a high school biology teacher). I am sure that I have much to learn at this conference, but it is hardly the only thing I will be doing in Costa Rica. I will be in the country for the week prior to the conference and will travel a bit, taking in what I expect to be some incredible natural wonders. One week is a far cry from my usual over-a-month meanderings, and already I am feeling the pinch. I actually have to PLAN what I am going to do for those days, rather than the typical see-where-the-next-chickenbus-takes-me itinerary. (For those adventures, read about my time in Argentina or Mexico. Alas, my Guatemela notes are pre-blog.) Nonetheless, I'll be sure post a few words on this blog on what I experience. The beauty of a blog is that no-one has to read it, but if you do and want to throw a shout-out back my way, feel free to leave a comment. I leave on July 6th... stay tuned!
